67 Byron Street, Bulimba, offers an exciting opportunity to create an address synonymous with luxury river front living. Situated at the intersection of Byron, McConnell and Harrison Streets, the project provides an opportunity to become a marker for the proposed parkland on the river’s edge, and engage with the community by engaging with the proposed cross block on the west of the site.

Project details

The northern side of Byron Street has undergone a transformation in recent years, with much of the light industry that previously fronted the Brisbane River now replaced with three and four storey multiresidential buildings. The design of 67 Byron seeks to utilise the parameters established by these adjacent developments, as a platform from which to create a building that embraces the community and provides a high level of amenity to its residents.

Architecturally, the design of 67 Byron is inspired by two aspects of Bulimba’s history – firstly, the boat shed structures that were once prevalent on Byron Street; and secondly, the Queenslander, a housing typology that is still very much typical of the area. Drawing from these two influences, the development has been cast as two distinct buildings – the Boathouse, facing the river, and the Tree House, fronting Byron Street.
